here's a picture june 2009
I can't believe we've had Mitchell for a whole year. He is still acting like a newborn, requiring to be held and snuggled, he's still not lifting his head, or grasping objects, but if you get him in just the right mood, with a lot of effort on your part, you might get a smile. He's doesn't like lots of noise, but will let anyone hold him. He's thinking about solids and we probably average one serving of rice mixed with prunes or pears every other day. He's sleeping anywhere from 1 to 4 hours at night, but has a constant ear infection... so we give him a break. (We've been to the doctor 3 times since we've been in Cali, and all 3 times Mitch had infections in both ears. I think it might be time to look into other options.)
He has such a sweet spirit and has touched all our lives. Even Jansen will touch Mitchell's head now when you ask him "where's the baby?"
Jansen graduated from his 2 year old preschool class.
and when I turned around to get Mitchell this is what the party animal was doing...
It's exhausting turning one!
It's exhausting turning one!
We put Mitchell in his Bumbo which he'll sit in for about 3 minutes.
and sang happy birthday
the kids gave Mitchell Buzz and they have NOT let it out of their sight yet! They love, love, love, Toy Story.
I think Mitchell had one million prayers given in his behalf. One year ago we were told he wasn't going to live and we spent our time drawing closer to our Heavenly Father trying to figure out Mitchell's purpose for this life. The Lord has let us keep him a little longer and though it is hard work, we are thrilled to have him in our home! I am so thankful for all the people who prayed not only for Mitchell but also for me. I have felt your love and support and I know we have been blessed. It's hard to stay positive all the time with so many unknowns, but I am grateful for the blessings Mitchell has brought into my life and our home. Happy Birthday little man!and sang happy birthday

Love the photo of him asleep in the bouncy seat, and that you made him a heart shaped cake! :) You're an amazing lady, Kel. You always seem so positive and upbeat, even though I'm sure you feel a lot stress and anxiety about Mitchell. You're doing GREAT!
ReplyDeleteP.S. That photo of Jake's dad makes me laugh. Jake looks JUST like him!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Mitchell! Kellie, you are one patient and exceptional Mama to be steward over such a special little spirit. Your family is beautiful! ReplyDeleteKellie, I remember this time last year when I first got your email requesting prayers for Mitchell and your family. The kids and I were vacationing with my parents in their motorhome for the summer and every day I checked for updates from you on my mom's laptop. Mitchell was in our prayers every single day. My 6 yr old, Elanor, never forgot to include him when she prayed. It was very sweet and an amazing blessing to have been a part of. Mitchell truly is a miracle. I can't believe he is already one. You have been such a positive person through all of this. You are so inspiring. I love you!!!
ReplyDeleteWe still pray for him and you! Happy Birthday to Mitchell!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys have been having a ton of fun this summer. Awesome wildlife in the back yard and I thought the interview with Reesa for Father's Day was A.DOR.A.BLE.
